TREFOR Match Racing was founded in 2008 by a group of Danish top dinghy sailors. Skipper Nicolai Sehested was chosen to lead the team, and is still doing that today. The idea was to create a world class sailing team in keel boats with a wide variety of skills, and become the best Match Racing team in the world. After many victories and lately a World Championship victory in Poland the goal has changed – Match Racing is now moved on to multihull sailing boats, with fast and aggressive boats. Only one thing has remained the same – TREFOR Match Racing still wants to be the best in the world, and welcomed the new challenge. Match Racing is a group of young sailors. The team consists of Nicolai Sehested, Jonas Hviid-Nielsen, and Luke Payne. TREFOR Match Racing has through hard work and dedication build a successful and homogenous unit that is looking to make an impact on the international sailing scene.

The final day here in Aarhus, Denmark. The wind didn’t play the game the committee wanted but we did complete 2 races that counted. It was Ian Williams who took the overall win but it was also a good day for TREFOR Racing as the guys secured 3rd overall and putting them on the victory.[…]
A much more consistent day for the team of TREFOR Racing. What started as a light and variable northeasterly turned into an increasing unstable breeze. The race committee continued as planned and sent the fleet out regardless. There were a number of practice races before a decision was made to go for a points race.[…]
A day of mixed weather and mixed results at M32 Series Aarhus, Denmark. The grey skies that burdened the city of Aarhus were defeated by the afternoon sun, the crowds came and the sailing was rather tight. The team of Trefor Racing, Nicolai Sehested, Luke Payne, Jonas Frank Hviid-Nielsen and new comer to the group[…]
A very disappointing end to our regatta. We couldnt hold off the Australians and we would like to congratulate Matt Jerwood and his crew of Redline Racing who have gone through to the quarter finals. A huge thanks to all our supporters and for all the messages of support during the weeks leading up to[…]
What a big day for TREFOR Racing, its hard to write what happened so its best that we leave it to the Skipper Nicolai Sehested for the round up, we are still hanging in it…. Video: WMRT – Marstrand – Day 3 from TREFOR Match Racing on Vimeo.
Day 2 here in the sunny Marstrand. The TREFOR Racing team of Nicolai Sehested, Luke Payne, Rasmus Køstner and Pete Cumming have secured their place in the Super 16 Knock-Out Series. The first race was tricky off the line and completed it in 4th place however they didn’t repeat the result and finished the day[…]
Today started with a slight overcast skies and early morning rain however in true Marstrand style the sun peered from behind the clouds before the first gun at 10am. Nicolai Sehested and his crew of Rasmus Køstner, Luke Payne and Pete Cumming kicked off their group qualifying round with strength winning the first race and[…]
Only days left before the Grand Finale of the World Match Racing Tour 2016. With a championship on the line, the TREFOR Racing team has been putting in hours of training leading up to the event. Nicolai Sehested, Pete Cumming, Rasmus Kostner and Luke Payne have it all to do next week in what should[…]
The finals day delivered just about everything, dark skies, heavy rain, wind, no wind…. The guys pushed hard and qualified for the Top 6 Finals double points race. The end result was a 5th overall where skipper Nicolai Sehested took a daring move at the pin end on the final race of the day but[…]
A mixed bag of results for the team and the fleet, its hard to say we had a bad day when there’s only 8 points between 7th and 2nd place. The race course itself is the tricky part, big wind shifts on a very crowded and tight course and a leaderboard that makes more sense[…]
